my fingers aren't strong enough to play guitar for extended periods of time, which is disappointing. it takes a while to get into a riff groove, where i feel good about what i'm playing... and, by the time i'm almost there, my fingers (both the tips and the little muscles within) are too tired and sore to continue.

there are sounds in my head i would like to emulate through my playing, but i need more instruments. maybe i'll save up for a drum machine and a four track recorder.

hmm, when I first learned how to slap my bass, I got blisters on my plucking finger. I was so proud, it peeled off and I no longer had a finger print. But after a few weeks, it came back. I was dejected. Bass hurts your fingers more, but guitar can cut your fingers off. The gutiarist for local band strickland almost cut his pinky off with his guitar string.. 10 stitches..

I have no idea what my point is? I relate to you I suppose.

4-track recorders are the bomb. I recorded some stuff on a 4-track tonight, my first time recording myself. I was all giddy and geeked, "durrr that is me playing bass to Kims ([livejournal.com profile] burlyk) guitar line." Nevertheless, have a lovely day and continue you with you guitar playing.

How long have you been playing?

bass does hurt fingers more, this i learned years ago. i've played guitar off and on for about five years, never taking it seriously enough to be anything but a plunker.
