i find a great deal of humor in how unbelievably burned out i am on this place. there is no way i'm going to make it through the fall semester (that's assuming i can make it through the rest of the summer) as a sane individual.

i'm plotting an escape (even if nothing real comes of it).

burn, burn, burn...

So go on a trip. Go somewhere out of the norm, without people you know, no safety nets, none of the "catch me when i'm falling" things we create for ourselves. Go and spend a week there.

Doing that did wonders for my outlook on home.

i'm taking a two week trip trip in 18 days.

You could always play hooky... buy a great book and go sit in a park all day reading..

i tried that once, but ended up feeling like an ass because we're understaffed. every time someone calls in sick it puts a serious strain on the other staff...

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm the Queen of "I've worked 18 hour days for the last 105 days because I didn't want to burden someone else".

On the flip side, you need to be good to you too... how do you balance that if you can't make a temporary change at work?

i do need to be good to me. however, i'm afraid that my only real option might be to flee the library and the state...

that's what I was thinking in my first post. For me, it was a drastic thing - I left school half way through the year, moved to Vienne for 10 months, didn't speak the language, didn't have a dime.

forget about the library and state =)
